Operating Junction Temperature: -65°C to +125°C
Quantity: 5 pieces
⚙️ Key Features:
Ultra-Low Forward Voltage: Typical 0.45V at 3A (vs. ~1V for standard silicon diodes), dramatically reducing conduction losses and heat.
Very Fast Switching: As a Schottky diode, it has essentially no reverse recovery charge (trr), making it perfect for high-frequency switching circuits.
High Current Density: The SMB package is designed to handle a substantial 3A continuous current when properly soldered to a PCB.
Surface-Mount Design: Saves space and enables automated assembly in modern electronics.
Efficient & Cool Operation: Lower power dissipation allows for more compact designs with smaller heatsinks.
📦 Typical Applications:
Switch-Mode Power Supplies (SMPS): Critical as the output rectifier in DC-DC converters (buck, boost), especially in low-voltage, high-current applications (e.g., 5V, 12V, 24V rails).
Reverse Polarity Protection: Excellent for battery-powered devices and input stages due to low voltage drop, maximizing usable voltage.
Freewheeling / Clamping Diodes: In synchronous and non-synchronous buck converters, motor drives, and relay circuits.
Solar Panel & Battery Circuits: Used in blocking and bypass applications to prevent reverse current flow with minimal loss.
General Power Management: Any circuit requiring efficient rectification or steering of currents up to 3A.
🔧 Polarity & Mounting Notes:
Polarity Identification: On the SMB (DO-214AA) package, the cathode is marked with a white line or stripe on one end of the component body.
PCB Footprint: Requires an SMB-compatible PCB pad layout. Ensure correct orientation during placement.
Heatsinking (Thermal Management): For full 3A continuous operation, the diode must be soldered to a sufficient PCB copper pad/plane that acts as a heatsink. Inadequate thermal design will lead to overheating and failure.
⚠️ Important Considerations:
Reverse Leakage: Schottky diodes have higher reverse leakage current than PN junction diodes, especially at high temperatures. This can be a consideration in very high-precision or high-temperature circuits.
Voltage Rating: The 60V rating is suitable for most low-voltage power applications (e.g., 12V/24V systems). For mains-derived voltages, use a higher voltage diode.
Not a Zener: This is a rectifier Schottky diode, not for voltage regulation.
