PIR Motion Sensor HC-SR501
PIR motion sensor works by constantly comparing the level of infrared radiation (IR) of the surrounding are, this allows the sensor to detect motion, these sensors are commonly used for home automation, such as automated lighting systems, and security systems.
This particular PIR motion sensor module uses LHI778 Passive Infrared Sensor and BISS0001 IC to control how motion is detected. The module features adjustable sensitivity that allows for a motion detection range from 3 meters to 7 meters, and a time delay adjustments and trigger selection that allow for fine tuning within your application.
This product can work on its own in conjunction with a relay module even without a microcontroller, however if you want to add more functionality than just turning on a device, you will need an Arduino.
